The student designer’s category will showcase the next generation of swim, resort wear and accessory designers and their fresh approach to design. Students can enter in one of four categories and can do multiple entries in each.
TAFE Queensland presents the student Awards for Fashion Swim Girl, New Generation Resort Girl, Sunsafe Swim Awards and Accessory Style Design. Courses in Fashion are available at TAFE Queensland Brisbane and TAFE Queensland East Coast.
Designs entered into this category will showcase original and innovative swimwear design – think the show piece, the head turner, the unexpected, the dramatic, the front cover magazine shot.
The roots of swimwear design are still represented in stretch fabrics, body awareness, dramatic design, quality fit and flawless construction, but this outfit may never swim between the yellow and red flags!
Designs entered into this category will display fresh appropriate styles that reflect the lifestyle, conscience and fashion desires of the modern beach girl. Exciting colour and print design decisions, quality fit and flawless construction will characterise outfits in this category. Over swim styles may also complement swimwear designs expanding the use of the swim collection beyond pool or beach to barbecue or festival.

This category embraces all those unique summer ‘must have’ accessories. The ultimate hat, the swaggering Beach Bag and the definitive crowning jewellery piece or the ultimate footwear to get you through that long hot summer days and nights.

Plus there is a one in a lifetime internship with legendary artist and designer Collin Heaney, and Glitter and Dance fabric specialists product are part of the incredible pool of prizes for our student designers and $250 cash prize for each category.
